California-based utility Modesto Irrigation District (MID) has selected DVI, a Dominion subsidiary, to provide a number of advanced applications through the adoption of the EDGE software suite.

EDGE will be used in conjunction with an existing Silver Spring Networks advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) deployment to provide MID with conservation voltage reduction (CVR) and volt/VAR optimization (VVO) capabilities.

"As we considered our CVR and VVO strategy, DVI's patented approach of using AMI data for circuit optimization planning, management and control, and measurement and verification was a clear differentiator versus other solutions available on the market," says Tom Kimball, assistant general manager for MID.
