SunEdison, a solar technology manufacturer and energy services provider, has completed construction of a 24 MW solar power plant located in the California Desert.

The Cascade solar power plant, SunEdison says, is supplying electricity to utility San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) through a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA). Wells Fargo & Co. provided tax equity financing following the completion of the array.

According to SunEdison, the project's PPA was awarded under the California Renewable Auction Mechanism (RAM). The company notes that the RAM process uses a reverse auction and standard contracts, which helps simplify contracting and streamlines regulatory reviews.
