Swinerton Renewable Energy has completed the 18 MW Westlands Solar Farms project near Huron, Calif.

The project is producing and selling electricity under a power purchase agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric. Swinerton built the photovoltaic array and new substation on 85 acres adjacent to Interstate 5 under a contract from Clenera, a clean energy finance and management firm.

The plant is connected by a half-mile-long generation tie and transmission line from the substation into a new 70 kV switchyard.
