Ambient Corp., a provider of smart grid communications platforms and applications, has announced that the X-3100 smart grid node with embedded Sierra Wireless MC8355 modules has been certified to operate on the Sprint network.

The Ambient smart grid node is a purpose-built network device with processing capability and memory, designed to support electric, gas and water utility communications and applications, Ambient explains, adding that the node provides upstream and downstream high-speed data communications using a variety of wired and wireless technologies, including cellular, serial, Ethernet, power-line communications, Wi-Fi and radio frequency.
