Pattern Energy Group LP has announced that it has closed the financing of its 256 MW Ocotillo Wind project, which is currently under construction in Imperial County, Calif.

Ocotillo Wind will be the first renewable energy project to interconnect into the Sunrise Powerlink, a 500 kV transmission line San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) completed in June to bring renewable power from the Imperial Valley to San Diego. Pattern has entered into a 20-year power purchase agreement with SDG&E for the sale of energy produced by the project.

The developer expects most of Ocotillo Wind to be placed into commercial operation this year, with a small portion reaching commercial operation in early 2013.
