In collaboration with electrical contracting company Edison Power Group, Itron Inc. has received an approximately $150 million contract award from the City of Johannesburg, South Africa, to supply Itron's latest-generation smart meters and associated smart metering system to municipally owned utility City Power.

"It is our assessment that the consortium offer of Edison Power and Itron provides the right combination of local empowerment, world-class technology and proven delivery performance to support the utility's future priorities," says Sicelo Xulu, CEO of City Power.
