Itron Inc. has signed a five-year contract with British Gas to provide a suite of services in support of more than 1.25 million electricity prepayment customers throughout the U.K.

Under this contract, Itron is providing a B2B customer support call center, prepayment vending transaction management, meter data management, data reporting, technical support and consulting services.

Since 2004, British Gas has used Itron’s Managed Services with the provision of its electricity prepayment solution. Both parties have agreed to a contract that will run until at least the end of 2017 and enables the expansion of the use of Itron’s technology, which already provides features such as in-home vending.
