GCL Solar Energy has placed an order with Satcon Technology Corp. for a 76 MW solar power plant that will be built in the Caribbean. Satcon will deliver 45 of its Equinox 500 kW inverters, along with over 1,900 Satcon Solstice Subcombiners, 680 SSC Smart Subcombiners and 64 medium-voltage transformers, to the company.

"We've seen demand for solar PV continue to grow in the Americas over the last two years," says Pete DeGraff, executive vice president of worldwide sales, services and marketing for Satcon. "First, with commercial systems and most recently, in large, utility-scale power plants."

The Equinox 500 kW is the next generation of Satcon's flagship 500 kW solar inverter. It is designed to improve system-wide energy harvest and solar plant yield, according to the company.
